Do you eat every day?
Be honest: Do you eat at least three servings of vegetables and two servings of fruit every day? The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recommend exactly that. One serving is about a handful, or roughly 125 grams. This rule of thumb automatically adjusts to the required amounts based on your age.
Fruits and vegetables are an essential part of a healthy, balanced diet. They provide vital nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, fiber, and phytochemicals. They’re also low in calories and fat and easy to digest.
However, this recommendation covers only basic nutritional needs. To maintain and promote health, targeted dietary supplementation can be beneficial. The body often needs more, especially in cases of a vitamin-deficient diet, poor eating habits, nutrient loss during food preparation, or increased stress. Dietary supplements are particularly recommended for certain groups, such as adolescents, young women, athletes, seniors, pregnant women, or those following a vegan diet.
